This page explains which cookies and similar technologies Shield uses, what they do, and how to control them. We try to use as few cookies as possible.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file your browser stores on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let sites remember things like that you are signed in, what your preferences are, and how you navigated between pages. We also use small amounts of local storage and session storage, which are governed by the same principles in this policy.
Strictly-necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the service to function. They cannot be turned off without breaking sign-in, billing, or session security.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| shield_session | Authenticated session token (HttpOnly, Secure). | 14 days, rotated on login |
| shield_csrf | CSRF protection token for form posts. | Session |
| shield_notice_accepted_v2 | Records that you accepted the signup notice (sessionStorage, not a cookie). | Session |
Preference cookies
These remember small UI choices so the dashboard feels consistent between visits.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| shield_billing_interval | Remembers monthly vs yearly tab on the pricing table. | 1 year (localStorage) |
| shield_last_strictness | Remembers your last-chosen strictness preset. | 90 days (localStorage) |
Analytics
We use minimal first-party analytics to understand which pages users visit and where features are discovered. Analytics events do not include the contents of your obfuscation jobs and are aggregated. You can opt out from cookie settings.
Marketing
Shield does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not run third-party ad pixels on this site.
How to control cookies
You can manage non-essential cookies from cookie settings. Most browsers also let you clear or block cookies entirely. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will sign you out and break the dashboard.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our use of cookies changes. The “Last updated” date above will reflect the most recent revision.
